THE Kingsway are set for their biggest gig to date supporting fellow Warrington indie band Starsailor this Sunday.
The group will play an intimate gig at The Tavern in Wigan as part of a Channel 4 documentary featuring their illustrious counterparts.
Singer Wes Dolphin, guitarist Tom Cummings, Danny Markie on bass and drummer Joe Cummings say they have been working hard over the past four months writing and recording their debut EP, produced by John Kettle (The Tansads, Witness, Moco) and James Stelfox, Starsailor’s bassist.
Wes says supporting Starsailor is the highlight of the band’s most productive period to date.
“It has been an exciting time for us working with John and Stel and we have kept ourselves relatively quiet on the gig scene allowing us the time to work on new material, which so far is sounding like a definite progression for us,” he said.
“To support a band of such stature as Starsailor who have been around for nearly a decade in the industry is really a compliment because they regard us worthy enough for that environment.”
The Kingsway are also looking forward to a main support slot at the annual homecoming of The Clone Roses at the Parr Hall in June.
