POLICE are clamping down on groups of cars gathering at a remote area of Great Sankey.

Officers were called to Orion Boulevard at around 9pm on April 5, after reports of a four-car smash involving a silver Astra, a silver Corsa, a blue Corsa and a blue Corsa Sport.

A police spokesman said: “Several occupants of the cars suffered minor injuries and a pedestrian was taken to hospital with a broken leg.

“A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.”

He was released on police bail, which he will answer on May 19.

Sgt Gordon Jack from Warrington West NPU, said officers are aware that cars are gathering on the land.

He added: “My officers go up there as part of their patrols and we are dealing with any issues that arise.

“It appears that people who have an interest in driving around in cars are gathering up there as a meeting point and whatever activities they have been engaging in has led to police action being taken. It is something we will be monitoring.”
