AN indoor and outdoor play area could be created in Lymm if plans go ahead.

Developer Darren Pybus attended Tuesday’s parish council meeting to share his vision to turn the former builder’s yard on Mill Lane into the play area.

He said while a planning application has yet to be submitted, he had sounded out Oughtrington Primary School as well as parents in the village.

He added: “Everyone has been supportive.

“This would create about 20 jobs in the area and we hope you will be supportive.

“We think this would be something of real benefit to the local village.

“And we expect most of our business to come from within Lymm.”

Parish councillors said they were broadly supportive of the plans but said they could not comment further until they had seen firm plans for the site.

Clr Neville Woodyatt said parking would need to be sorted before the application could be approved.

And he said for the playground to make enough money it would need to attract a lot of people from outside of the village if it was to make a profit.

Mr Pybus said he already had some drawings and would not consider handing in a formal planning application yet.

Part of the scheme would see the use of the indoor hall being offered to the four primary schools in the village for free.
