YOUNG people will benefit from the budget according to Helen Jones.

The Warrington North MP welcomed the Chancellor’s budget announced yesterday, Wednesday that included help for long term unemployed people under 25 to get into work and training.

Mrs Jones said: “I welcome the measures in today’s Budget which will target, support and deliver real help in getting people, especially young people, quickly back into work, support businesses and help homeowners facing problems.

“We know that if we don’t act now, it will cost us all more in the long run. This government has the confidence to invest in the recovery and will continue to do so rather than talk Britain down as others do. “

Among other figures announced in the annual budget included an additional payment alongside the Winter Fuel Allowance worth £100 for households with someone aged 80 or above and £50 for those with some aged 60 or above, which should help more than 37,500 people in the town.

Pension credit changes will also help up to 8,000 households in the town.

Alcohol and cigarette taxes have risen by 2 per cent and fuel duty will rise by 2p a litre from September.
