WARRINGTON Collegiate students will take to the stage to perform The Bench, a screen play written by writer, actor and director Joe O'Byrne.

All performing arts students at the college had the chance to audition for parts in the drama, and tonight will bring the show to life in front of an audience after six weeks of rehearsals.

“The students have thrown themselves into this,” said Joe, who has featured in Coronation Street and Emmerdale and written and produced a number of plays.

“They have done a really good job and now the adrenalin is kicking in with the live performance fast approaching.”

Student Chris Elwood, who plays a tramp called Eric, said: “It’s great to do things with someone new at the college and the play that we are performing is very realistic.

“Everyone can connect with one of the characters as it focuses on many different angles.

“There is a mixture of everything in there from romance to comedy.”

Performances are tonight, tomorrow and Saturday at The Hub, Warrington Collegiate. Tickets are £5 and available by calling 494554.
