A LYMM couple were jailed today after admitting making up to £300,000 by selling fake ID cards.

Adrian Holmes, aged 32, and Lucy Sanders, age 28, both of Lymmington Avenue, sold driving licences and permits on their website, uwantid.co.uk.

They pleaded guilty to a joint charge of conspiracy to supply cards for use in connection with fraud when they appeared at Chester Crown Court today.

They sold the ID cards for £20, making their company between £100,000 and £300,000 between July 2006 and May 16, 2008.

Prosecutors said the pair knew they were selling the IDs to underage teenagers to allow them to drink and drive illegally.

A loophole in the law allows websites to offer ID for ‘novelty’ purposes, but following an 18-month investigation Cheshire Trading Standards prosecuted the company.

It was the first prosecution of its kind in the country.

Holmes was jailed for two years and his partner Sanders for a year.
