A LECTURER is preparing to cycle half way around the world to raise money for the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation For Peace and Help For Heroes.
Wayne O’Brien will set off for America in June, where he will cycle from the west coast to the east before boarding a plane and flying to Gibraltar where he will continue biking through Spain, France, then back to Warrington.
Orford man Wayne, a senior lecturer in television production at the University of Chester’s Padgate campus, said: “It’s something I wanted to do for ages, so it’s now or never.
“The fact I’m doing it unsupported is a little scary, but that’s part of the adventure.”
Wayne, aged 51, will broadcast his adventure on the internet at thecharityride.com, and with the help of his students has produced a range of films detailing his challenge.
A Facebook group, The Charity Ride, already has almost 600 members supporting Wayne.
His bike was donated by Dawes Cycles in Chester.
