THE action-packed line up for Stockton Heath’s second annual arts festival has been announced.

Cappella singing group Cheshire Chord, Cheshire Operatic and Dramatic Youth Set (CODYS), Oldsocks theatre group and acts from Manchester’s Frog and Bucket comedy club will all feature in the summer extravaganza.

Three carbon neutral tipi-like tents named giant hat katas will be placed on Mill Lane field and will host some of the headline acts.

Heath Couture, a catwalk showcasing summer wear from the village’s fashion stores will launch the festival countdown on June 11 at Stretton’s Park Royal Hotel.

The village event which will span over four days in July will see acts spread into neighbouring Appleton and Grappenhall to further the community spirit.

The scarecrow competition and teddy bear hunt will return following last summer’s popularity.

Youngsters can enjoy entertainment from Joe Jingles who will provide music and movement classes and a fun-filled performance of Rumpelstiltskin by Presto Puppet Theatre.

Once again, residents will be asked to choose a film for the open air cinema – organisers have their fingers crossed for good weather.

Trips along the Bridgewater Canal will be available from the London Bridge pub, gardeners will be opening their allotments to the public and businesses from the area will be selling home grown produce at a farmers market on the Sunday.

The success and support from friends of the festival has allowed the strong team of around 20 volunteers to make the extravaganza, which will run from July 9 to 12, even bigger than last year.

Rebecca Jenkinson, publicity and marketing officer for the committee, said: “The festival is not just for the people of Stockton Heath, we would be delighted if people came from out of Warrington.”
