CHIEF Constable David Whatton visited Warrington Wolves Foundation on Thursday to see for himself some of the great work that the charity is doing.

It was the first time that Mr Whatton had seen inside Wolves' home ground and he was impressed both by the stadium and the community work that the Foundation carries out.

Mr Whatton was shown around The Halliwell Jones Stadium by Wolves chief executive Andy Gatcliffe and the Foundation director Neil Kelly.

He was told about the charity's aim to build a stronger community through sport by targeting key areas - education, health, social welfare and young people and Mr Whatton was able to meet some teenagers from Warrington Association for Special Children during his visit.

The chief constable was shown some of the Foundation's projects with schools and told how the Wolves players involvement helps children engage with the charity's campaigns.

Mr Whatton was also given a tour of the ground and had a chance to walk through the players' tunnel on to the pitch.

Andy Gatcliffe invited the chief constable to a home game so that he can truly become a Wolves fan. Mr Watton, who hails from Wolverhampton, has so far only supported those other Wolves - Wolverhampton Wanderers.
