A BATTLE of the bands contest is being held in a town centre club to help raise money for a children’s charity at Alder Hey hospital.

The sister of miracle baby triplets, who have suffered from serious health troubles since they were born, is organising the event at WA1 on Friday, April 24.

Lucy Lambert, a 19-year-old fashion student at Chester University, of Ellesmere Road in Walton, was moved to put on the event to raise the profile of Ronald Mcdonald House Charities, which provides free accommodation for families of children needing inpatient care in hospitals and hospices.

The charity came to the aid of her family when one of the triplets, Joseph, underwent major open heart surgery after being diagnosed with a ‘vascular ring’ – a very rare congenital heart condition.

Sam also cheated death when he contracted group B septacemia at five weeks old. Although his condition was spotted early enough to prevent the onset of meningitis, he spent time on a life support machine in Alder Hey.

Lucy will split the proceeds from the battle of the bands with a fund for her end of year fashion show in June, which she is self-financing.

Among the bands featured on the night are Smudge – a signed band that have starred on Kerrang, Laidback Legends, Chase the Moment, Jay Leigh, Parazali and The Backup Plan.

Tickets cost £3 on the night, which is open to all ages. Doors open at 7pm with the first band on stage at 7:30pm.

The results will be announced at 11pm.
