HELEN Jones MP rubbed shoulders with swimming champion Mark Foster to welcome the launch of free swimming in Warrington.
The Warrington North MP met up with the former world record holder to promote a Government scheme to open up pools for free for people over 60 and swimmers aged under 16.
Warrington Borough Council has taken the scheme on.
Mrs Jones said: “It is great to see the national launch of free swimming.
“I am pleased that Warrington has backed the government’s £140 million scheme to offer free swimming to people over 60 and under 16.
“The scheme provides a fun and accessible means of keeping fit and active.
“I hope that this is just the beginning and that in time free swimming becomes the norm across the country.“
