THE campaign against a Titan prison hits the town centre streets this weekend.
Warrington Residents Against Prison Proposal (Wrapp) will be in the town centre to raise the profile in their efforts to stop a huge prison being built on the site of Omega.
Chairman of Wrapp, Clr Keith Gleave (LD - Whittle Hall) said:“It’s vital that we remind people how important it is that we keep saying no to a Titan Prison in Warrington.
“There’d be no benefit for Warrington whatsoever in having a Titan Prison here. It won’t cut crime, and the job’s that are being promised are jobs for more experienced people elsewhere in the country experienced – not local beginners as the Government’s told us.”
Wrapp recently took their campaign to Downing Street where they delivered more than 10,000 petition signatures from residents opposed to a prison being built on the business park.
