LIBRARY staff and workers at a new town centre council office are the latest nominees in our Pride of Warrington campaign.
You have been flooding us with nominations for people who go that extra mile to make Warrington a better place to live.
Dozens of letters, e-mails and phone calls have been received for our campaign, supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
This week, we focus on staff at Warrington’s libraries and workers at the council’s Contact centre, on Horsemarket Street.
Anne-Marie Astley told us all about her experiences.
She said: “I would like to mention the library service in Warrington. Now that you can take and return a book to any library in the Warrington area, I’ve become a literary vortex, swirling around various branches, taking out books from one library and returning them to another.
“On my rounds I encounter many members of staff who become familiar faces and as I use the library computers on a very regular basis, I’ve observed them dealing with other borrowers as they often assume the role of friend, confidante and agony aunt. “As one librarian said to me recently, often they are the only contact an elderly person really ever gets to talk to outside their home.”
And David Cowe told us about staff at the Contact centre.
He added: “Customer service is something to celebrate in Warrington.
“Well done on your initiative – too much is heard about poor service and not enough of the much more frequent good.”
