A BEIJING Paralympic gold medal winner was guest of honour when Warrington Lions Club held its 40th charter dinner at the Masonic Hall.
John Stubbs, fresh from his recent archery victory in China, was pleased to have his success recognised as was Lion Aden Walker who has won countless medals for swimming in competitions for the disabled.
District governor Ted Rockley stressed the importance of the introduction of women members to the Lions while Warrington deputy mayor Clr Brian Axcell thanked the club for 40 years of successful charity work.
Club president Syd Walker said: “The work each club member undertakes proves that we really do take our motto, ‘we serve’, seriously.
“Over so many years we have supported, helped and sponsored many people, young and old in our community. This 40th charter dinner marks a marvellous milestone for us.”
