I'VE turned green and it's all thanks to my blue bin!
It's not often I praise the council for something, but actually I think they've got this one just right.
Since receiving my new bigger blue bin about two weeks ago, it's almost full. The black bin, meanwhile, is nearly empty.
Who would have thought it?
I had started to recycle before the arrival of the big blue one - wine bottles mainly - not sure what that says about me?
And plastic bags too - recycling them in the supermarkets or reusing the long life ones.
But I was still only tinkering with recycling and still had a long way to go to really consider myself green.
Now I'm a new woman!
All my bottles go in the blue bin, along with cardboard, plastic bottles, drinks cans, coffee jars and, of course, my newspapers and magazines, which I have lots of.
And what an amazing difference it has made.
We've positioned the blue bin just outside the back door so it's really accessible to chuck stuff in.
It's normal bin day tomorrow and there's hardly any stuff in my black one.
I have to say - and this is a complete turnaround for me - that if the council now started to collect normal rubbish every two weeks - I wouldn't object!
So imagine the difference this is going to make to the town if we all use our blue bins properly? It should make an amazing impact.
I've seen the light - and it's definitely blue!
