AROUND 70,000 people learnt how to be more environmentally conscious while enjoying the delights of the rural countryside when they attended the Cheshire Show.
For one of the key themes at the event at the Tabley showground, near Knutsford, was From Plough To Plate, exploring the food journey and educating visitors on how they can help reduce ‘food miles.’ David Bellamy, who was special guest at this year’s show, told Limited Edition: “More and more people are responding to the environmental message and especially our youngsters, right down to primary level, who say to their parents: ‘Mum, Dad, we’ve got to save the world.’ “These days, people are fighting for the things that their grandparents took for granted and are trying to stitch their patch of the world back together. I call it the ‘green renaissance’.”
