Planning documents reveal the plans relate to the KK City Chinese and Cantonese takeaway, in the row of premises opposite Mersey Street roundabout.

Documents prepared by applicant Ming Tak Wong, of Uncle Tak Bakery Ltd, stated that the business would employ one full-time and one part-time members of staff.

Opening hours for Uncle Tak Hong Kong bakery and café are proposed to be 9am to7pm, Monday to Sunday.

Plans added: “It is considered that the proposed use as a bakery with a café is appropriate in this location.

“The site is within the identified town centre, but in a peripheral area where bakery with café use would be deemed acceptable.

“The proposed change of use would keep a unit in an active, daytime use, and act as an anchor store to encourage people to visit this peripheral area of the town centre.

“The proposed change of use to a bakery with café does not involve major external alterations, only on the front elevation.

“It is proposed to refurbish the existing shopfront and upgrade it to bring it up to standard.

“Improvements to the frontage of the property will enhance considerably this parade.”
