Warrington Parkrun is a free community running event held every Saturday at 9 am, welcoming of all ages and abilities. Parkrun began in 2004, when just 13 runners met up to run together in a local park. Today, Parkrun events can be found all over the world, with over 10 million participants. In Warrington, approximately 400-500 enthusiastic park-runners gather in Victoria Park each week.

Parkrun is a timed event, offered at no cost at all. Your results will be posted on the Warrington Parkrun website by approximately 11 am each Saturday, so that you can easily track your progress and performance. However, to guarantee accurate timing, it is essential to bring your barcode; without it, you will not be able to cross the finish line. After signing up (free of charge) on the Parkrun website, you will receive a barcode via your registration email, which is your ticket to participate!

For those of you who are already avid Park-runners, and are considering a change in scenery every week or so, I truly recommend Warrington. The course is (mostly) flat, across paths, trails and a small section of grass. Certainly PB (Personal Best) potential!

I have developed a strong appreciation for Warrington Parkrun and its supportive community, and have come to look forward to each an every 5k. The volunteers are an incredibly welcoming, dedicated and encouraging group who show up every Saturday morning to assist and uplift all. Parkrun truly is for everyone, whether you’re striving for a Personal Best in 20 minutes, aiming for a sub-30 finish, or simply looking to walk and make some new friends.

Warrington Parkrun particularly is celebrating their 500th Parkrun this Saturday, the 30th November, so if you’re thinking of joining, this week is the perfect opportunity to experience the motivating, lively, and inclusive atmosphere. Get yourself down to Victoria Park, Knutsford Road, and experience so much more than ‘a walk in the park’!
