THE police helicopter was scrambled above Warrington in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday.
Officers from Cheshire Police attempted to pursue an off-road bike being driven through pedestrianised areas of the town centre.
As it travelled towards the M62, the force organised a helicopter to be dispatched to the area to assist in stopping the rider.
However, the pursuit was stood down, with no arrests made.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 12.18am on Wednesday, November 27, police became aware of an off-road bike which was travelling in the pedestrianised area of Warrington town centre.
“Officers, supported by the police helicopter, attempted to pursue the vehicle as it travelled through the town towards the M62.
“The pursuit was subsequently stood down and no arrests were made.”
