PEOPLE travelling by train in Warrington are facing major disruption this evening, Tuesday.

Trains through Warrington Central, Warrington West, Padgate, Birchwood and Glazebrook are being cancelled and delayed.

This is due to emergency services dealing with an incident on the railway, with passengers on the platform told that a person has been hit by a train.

The incident is on the line between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.

Passengers are urged to check services before travelling.

A spokesman for National Rail said: “A person has been hit by a train between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.

“As all lines are currently closed. Trains may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, cancelled or revised.

“Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

“If you have been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to.

“You can contact Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat.”
