REPAIRS to a fountain in the town centre are not due to finish until 2025 – more than a year after the damage was initially identified.

The iconic skittles fountain on Market Gate has been cordoned off since December last year.

Fencing was erected while the fountain underwent repair and maintenance after damage was identified.

“We are working to ensure the repair and maintenance work is concluded as soon as possible,” a Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said last year.

However, work is still ongoing to fix the town centre fountain.

Specialist contractors are required to repair the monument, which is due to be completed in 2025.

“During a routine safety inspection on the Guardians water feature, damage was identified to the infrastructure,” a spokesperson said.

“The works require specialist contractors, and it is hoped that repairs to the iconic facility will be completed early in the new year.”
