CHRISTMAS arrived early in Warrington town centre over the weekend.
Weekend Wonderland marked the start of the festive period, with visitors to the town enjoying Christmas markets and other fun events.
As part of the jammed packed programme of events, a highlight of the weekend was the drumming spectacular and festive fire-lit concert.
Speaking before the event Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and community, said he was looking forward to the festivities.
“Warrington Weekend Wonderland is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy the start of the festive season,” he said.

“It is great to see people of all ages heading into the town centre to take part in the activities, while also supporting local businesses.
“It really does offer something for everyone and showcases the very best of Warrington during this special time of year.”
Events took place despite the inclement weather, with some activities being forced inside to ensure they could proceed safely.
Christmas markets were set up, while families could also enjoy Santa’s grotto on Hatters Row, allowing children to meet Santa and his elves.
Warrington school choirs performed throughout the weekend, bringing festive music to the town centre, with performances adding to the weekend’s community spirit.
There was also plenty of street entertainment, with walkabout acts including The Grinch.
In Time Square, visitors found free family activities like face painting, traditional fairground rides and live music from Warrington bands, including Batida Rio, Stray Horns and Twisted Tubes.
Meanwhile, Bar Hütte made its Warrington debut at Old Market Place, offering karaoke huts and a cosy spot to take a break from the festivities.
Dave McNicholl, chair of Warrington BID and CEO of Youth Zone, added: “Warrington Weekend Wonderland is fast becoming a highlight in the town’s calendar.
“It is fantastic to see how the event encourages people to visit the town centre, supporting our local businesses and creating a great atmosphere.
“It is a real boost for the community, and something that brings so many people together.”
