AN opticians in Warrington has launched its annual appeal which aims to bring festive cheer to children spending Christmas in hospital.
Valli Optometry & Audiology first started its William’s Gift Christmas Smile Appeal back in 2020.
It was founded by James Houlihan and the team at the Birchwood Shopping Centre store in partnership with local charity William’s Gift.
The aim was to provide new toys to young patients at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Warrington Hospital, and Tameside General Hospital.
"Every child deserves to smile at Christmas, especially those facing the challenge of a hospital stay," said James from Valli Optometry & Audiology.
"We're proud to see how our community has embraced this appeal over the past four years, and we're excited to make this year even more special."
The appeal welcomes donations of new toys suitable for children from newborn to 16 years old.
Suggested items include:
- Colouring books and pencils
- Cuddly toys and teddies
- Board games
- Age-appropriate toys for all stages
Multiple donation points have been established across the region, with Home Bargains joining as a key partner. Donations can be dropped off at:
- Valli Optometry & Audiology, Birchwood Shopping Centre
- Home Bargains, Birchwood Shopping Centre
- Home Bargains, Junction NINE Retail Park, Warrington
- Home Bargains, Widnes
For those unable to visit a drop-off point, an Amazon Wishlist has been created, allowing donors to have items delivered directly to the organizers.
The appeal will run until Friday, December 20, ensuring all donations reach children in time for Christmas.
