A BUSINESS has confirmed that it is to move out of the town centre due to ‘crazy’ rents and youth anti-social behaviour.
Level Up opened on Buttermarket Street in September last year, with Warrington brothers Phillip and Michael Knight stating that their ‘dream had come true’.
Set over two floors in the former home of Warrington Youth Club’s gym, it offers a wide variety of games including an 18-hole crazy golf course, axe throwing and archery.
There is also a retro gaming room, pool table, mini arcade, retro consoles and an open room virtual reality experience.
However, Level Up has issued an ‘important announcement’ confirming a decision to move to a new location ‘just outside of the town centre’, to be confirmed in due course.
In a statement, it said: “It is something we have thought about doing before, but because of the work and effort put into this building, we decided to give it as much chance as possible to succeed here.
“We have commitments we have booked in throughout December, so we will be staying open here until December 31. All bookings will be fine, so no need to worry.
“It has been a great two years inside 3a Buttermarket Street, a building that was empty for a number of years before we took over the space.
“There have been so many good memories that we will have forever, and we cannot thank everyone enough who has been in and enjoyed their time with us.
“There are many reasons that we have decided to move – too many to list, but the main reason is that town centre rent is crazy.
“Think of a number that you think the rent would be and double it at least.
“Being on the upper floors without a lift has been hard, just to get stock and materials inside, and it has been unsuitable for older visitors and people with disabilities, but our new premises will be reachable for everyone.
“In the town centre, there are groups of kids, not the nice ones, who come inside and run riot, causing damage, stealing equipment and setting off fire extinguishers.
“In our new premises, you will need to pass reception to get inside, so this will not be possible.”
The business adds that popular axe throwing can be very loud, and this cannot be run at present before 5.30pm out of respect for neighbouring businesses, but this will be available throughout the day in the new premises.
“Level Up will close on December 31 for a few months while we move everything over, before a big reopening that all of you will be invited to. We are super excited to start the process,” the statement continues.
“Our landlord has been extremely helpful and brilliant throughout the last two years and understands what we are doing.
“If anyone reading this thinks that the space would be great for them, please get in touch, as it would be sad to see this space unused again for a number of years, and your landlord will be fantastic
“We will announce the new location in due course, but right now we are going to make sure that everyone visiting us until December 31 has the best time possible.
“If you would like to come before we move, visit the website or just pop in. Thank you so much to all our customers this year.”
