A MAN who rang his ex-partner nearly 600 times from prison despite being subject to a restraining order has been handed a further jail sentence. 

Oliver Homig, of HMP Risley, Warrington, appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday (November 21). 

The 28-year-old had previously admitted breaching a restraining order - imposed on him in February of this year against his ex-partner, Victoria Hargreaves. 

It was his second breach of the order - having been sentenced in July for a breach in May whereby he met Miss Hargreaves at a pub in Chirk. For that offence, Homig was sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment. 

Prosecuting, Kevin Jones, said that a member of the probation service working with Miss Hargreaves heard voicemails the defendant had left on her phone.

​Analysis of Homig's phone records from HMP Risley revealed he called Miss Hargreaves 595 times from September 10 before he was arrested at the prison gates upon his release from custody on October 28.

In police interview, Homig said he was trying to support Miss Hargreaves.

The defendant had 15 previous convictions for 25 offences - including seven breaches of restraining orders. 

Defending, Dafydd Roberts said that Homig has apologised for his actions, and is looking to spend his time in prison constructively.

Judge Timothy Petts said Homig presents a "very real danger" to Miss Hargreaves. He jailed him for 12 months.
