WARRINGTON’S highly anticipated Weekend Wonderland is set to go ahead this weekend, but with a revised programme of events.

The changes are designed to ensure the festivities continue, despite ‘challenging weather conditions’.

Organisers have made last-minute changes to guarantee a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

The popular Independents markets, originally planned as an outdoor feature, will now be held at Golden Square Shopping Centre.

This relocation ensures that visitors can still shop local, enjoy festive treats and find unique gifts in a sheltered setting.

Festivities at Time Square will also see adjustments, with Warrington Market and other local businesses stepping in to host activities.

From live music by Twisted Tubes to surprise appearances by The Grinch, the fun will spread across the town centre, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

Adding to the excitement, Katumba Drummers and Silk Street Jazz Band will now perform pop-up sets on Saturday.

Santa’s Grotto at Hatters Row will run as planned, providing families with the opportunity to meet Santa in a magical setting, with limited spaces available for Saturday and Sunday.

A spokesman for organisers said: “Safety and practicality have been central to the decision-making process.

“The weather conditions on Saturday made outdoor setups impractical, leading to the relocation of the markets.

“Additionally, the wet and windy forecast made it unsafe for the Walk The Plank firelit concert to proceed.

“Despite these adjustments, the festive weekend is set to showcase Warrington’s fantastic community spirit, with local businesses, venues and organisations working together to ensure a memorable event for residents and visitors.”
