A SUSHI restaurant and takeaway in Warrington town centre has been handed a dismal food hygiene rating.
Inspectors from Warrington Borough Council visited Woyo Sushi in Old Market Place on October 17.
The results of the inspection have now been published on the Food Standards Agency website, with the eatery handed a one-out-of-five score.
It is said that ‘major improvement is necessary’ overall, with ratings also given for three different categories.
In terms of the hygienic handling of food, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, ‘improvement is necessary’.
The cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building, including having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, was said to be ‘good’.
However, ‘major improvement is necessary’ regarding systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
