POLICE were called to an address after a dog had run into a garden and attacked another canine.

Residents reported seeing a police presence in the area of Alder Street, in Newton-le-Willows on Tuesday afternoon, November 19.

When asked about this, a police spokeswoman said that they were called to a report that a dog had attacked another after running into the garden of a property.

The other dog suffered facial wounds in the attack, and it was taken to a vet by its owner.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We received a report just after 4pm on Tuesday 19 November that a dog a dog ran in to a garden of a property on Alder Street and attacked another dog.

"Officers attended and the injured dog sustained facial wounds (and has) been taken to the vets by the owner."

She added that police inquiries remain ongoing and that no arrests have been made at this stage in connection with the incident.
