RESIDENTS and visitors to the town centre are being warned that driving on certain streets this weekend could result in a £400 fine.
Warrington Borough Council has published the list of roads that will be closed on Saturday for Warrington’s Christmas Weekend Wonderland.
On that day, no cart, carriage, car, lorry or any other vehicle – except vehicles taking part in the event, police, ambulance, fire service vehicles and mail carts – and no horses or other animal, will be allowed to remain or travel on the named streets on Saturday between 4.30pm and 8.30pm.
The streets are: Bold Street, between Sankey Street and Museum Street; Palmyra Square North; Palmyra Square South; Sankey Street, between Legh Street and Bold Street; Suez Street; and Springfield Street.
The restrictions will only be in place to allow for the safe passage of the parade, with access under the control of the event organiser for the duration of the event.
Bicycles are included in the term ‘vehicle’ and must not be ridden through any of the named streets during the hours specified.
A council spokesman said: “Any person wilfully acting in contravention of the order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.”
