RAIL passengers are being warned of major disruption on the railway in Warrington today, Thursday.
All lines are said to be blocked between Liverpool Lime Street, Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western stations.
This is due to a failure of the electricity supply on the tracks, causing severe disruption, with Network Rail engineers on site.
Train services are being cancelled, revised or facing long delays, with passengers urged to check before travelling.
A National Rail spokesman said: “Failure of the electricity supply between Liverpool Lime Street, Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western means all lines are blocked.
“Services between these stations will be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 30 minutes.”
Services impacted are Northern, Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express.
Northern services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Airport via Newton-le-Willows are not affected by this disruption.
You may board these services for Huyton or travel towards Manchester for onward connections to Wigan Wallgate and Blackpool North.
Additionally, you can use your ticket at no additional cost on Merseyrail services between Liverpool Central and Ormskirk or Southport until 12.30pm for onwards Northern connections from Southport to Wigan Wallgate and Preston.
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today.
Keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
