THE town council and its partners will recognise Carers Rights Day by promoting support services and rights for local carers.
Carers Rights Day, which takes place on November 21, aims to shine a light on the rights available to carers of all ages.
It also raises awareness about the information and advice accessible to carers to assist them in their roles.
The commitments and priorities for carers in the town are outlined in the Warrington Carers Strategy, which has been revised for 2025 to 2028 following feedback from local carers and partners.
The strategy provides carers with access to support from various services, including the Warrington Carers Hub, provided by nCompass, and the council's carers support team.
The Warrington Carers Hub is organising an event to celebrate Carers Rights Day and launch the latest strategy in the town centre.
The 'Recognising Your Rights' event will take place on November 21 at The Gateway from 10am to 1.30pm.
The event will feature an informal discussion about LPAs, probate, and wills by Chris Rudd Solicitors, refreshments, and an overview of a statutory carer’s assessment by the council’s carers support team.
Carers interested in attending can book their place by calling the Warrington Carers Hub on 0300 303 0623 or via email.
Councillor Maureen McLaughlin, cabinet member for statutory health and adult social care, said: "Carers fulfil an absolutely vital role.
"It is important carers have access to information about their rights to help ease some of the challenges associated with caring, whether that’s financial support or information about carer’s leave to help them in their caring role.
"The offer to carers in Warrington and the commitment our services are making to carers is outlined within the Warrington Carers Strategy.
"I’m delighted we’re revising the strategy as there has been considerable engagement with carers to ensure the strategy reflects the views and opinions of what carers in Warrington need to support them."
