A POTTERY bar owned by two friends has opened its doors in Warrington.

After a year of thriving in Lytham St Annes, Craft + Common has expanded and opened a second site in Lymm.

The studio offers pottery paintings in a fun, relaxed and social environment and the concept is designed to appeal to and cater for all ages, groups and artistic talents.

It is owned by Lauren Rowland and Hannah Muir who have been friends for more than 10 years after meeting at high school.

The girls both come from a fashion and hospitality background and lived in different parts of the world before the lockdown.

There used to be a pottery studio in Lytham which they would both go to when they were younger which holds special memories for them. And after going to one together as adults, they decided they ‘absolutely loved the concept’ of an activity combined with drinking where you can take home a keepsake.

So here, Craft + Common was born. Lauren and Hannah opened the Lytham studio in October 2023 and after a busy year, they decided to open a second site in Lymm.

In terms of what to expect, the studio offers pottery painting. Visitors can choose from a range of products to paint while they relax and enjoy a drink, ranging from coffee to cocktails to wine, and a cake.

And you don’t have to be an artistic expert.

“Some people come here and they know exactly what they are doing and they have done it before or they have a vision,” Lauren said.

“But some people come and have absolutely no idea where to begin.

“We have inspiration books with ideas in, so a lot of people use them.

“You don’t need have any artistic talents, it is just a fun, social and wholesome thing to do.”

The studio can also be used to host groups or private bookings.

In Lytham, Craft + Common has become very popular for the likes of hen parties, baby showers and birthdays.

And it also hosts themed nights, including Taylor Swift and ABBA ones.

Lauren and Hannah are planning to introduce these themed nights to Lymm in the new year.

Pottery painting ranges from £16 to £45 depending on the item chosen and there is a £4 studio fee which covers painting and firing.

Bookings are for time slots of an hour and 45 minutes.

Craft + Common can be found in the centre of Lymm on Eagle Brow in the former Barclays building.
