PLANS for a new convenience store to open until 1am are being fought by the police and environmental health.
Long Lane Convenience store would open seven days a week in a block of shops close to Northway in Longford.
But it would open until 1am on both Fridays and Saturdays.
An application will be discussed by councillors at a licensing committee meeting on Tuesday.
The shop would sell groceries and alcohol and be open from 7am until 11pm on all other days.
However both Cheshire Police and environmental health at Warrington Borough Council have objected.
Environmental health officers point to how close the new store would be to existing properties on Northway and Densham Avenue.
The report to councillors says: "Dwellings may suffer from noise from the following: Vehicles arriving, vehicles leaving, vehicle car doors, vehicle car radios, voices; raised, laughing, shouting and patrons congregating outside of the premises."
While Cheshire Police also objected to the 1am opening.
Its report said: "The Constabulary don’t feel that the applicant has provided sufficient evidence as to why the Council should depart from its own policy.
"There are residential properties directly behind the premises which could suffer from anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder and other associated issues that such premises may attract until late in the evening and into the early hours, which would have an impact on the resident’s lives and it would undermine the licensing objective of prevention of crime and disorder.
"Looking at the available crime stats that are on the Cheshire Police public website, the local area already experiences issues from antisocial behaviour, violence and disorder and other shops in the area have experienced shoplifting offences, it is our professional opinion that if this premises were to be granted hours outside of the policy then there is a risk that crime and disorder offences would increase in the area and these could be at late hours in the evening and early morning when they would have a detrimental impact on the local community."
They said if approval is granted it should just cover the period from 7am until 11pm.
Councillors will meet on Tuesday in the Town Hall to discuss the application.
