A WOMAN, 55, ‘intimidated’ her victims by sending printed text messages and private sexual images to their place of work.
Andrea Savage, of Slater Street in Latchford, appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon.
The 55-year-old had previously appeared at the court on September 30 for her trial, during which she was found guilty of harassment without violence and disclosing private sexual photographs.
Prosecuting, Gayle McCoubrey told the court that between December 26, 2023, and December 28, 2023, Savage began sending text messages to a female victim.
This female victim, it was heard, is the new partner of Savage’s ex, the male victim in this case.
In these messages, Savage called the victim a ‘homewrecker’ and ‘trash’.
It was heard that Savage sent a package to the female victim’s place of work on December 27, which included printed out text messages between Savage and a male victim.
In this ‘bundle’ of print outs were private sexual images of the male victim, which were taken in June 2023.
It was heard that the male victim believed that these images had been deleted.
A victim impact statement was read out to the court by Ms McCoubrey on behalf of the female victim.
“I still don’t understand why Andrea went to such lengths to intimidate me,” she said.
“That caused me months of emotional distress. I was scared and terrified, not knowing what to expect, especially as Andrea had caused ongoing threats."
The court heard that the victim ‘no longer felt comfortable’ at work and had to find a new job and has been ‘stressed’ and ‘anxious’ as a result of the harassment.
Savage, who represented herself in court, referenced the mitigation she gave during her trial that she didn’t believe the texts were considered harassment, and that she ‘wasn’t aware’ that the sexual images had been included in the package.
“He was dating [her] while he was still with me,” she said from the dock.
“He left me for her.”
Sentencing, deputy district Judge Rowan reiterated to Savage the impact the offences had on one of her victims, including feeling ‘upset’ and ‘anxious’.
Savage, who has no previous convictions, was told that the mitigation she provided to the Judge regarding her mental and physical health issues were taken into account.
The 55-year-old was sentenced to a 12-month community order, 10 rehabilitation activity days and fines £200.
She must also pay court costs of £650 for her late guilty plea and victim surcharge of £114.
When asked how she would like to pay, Savage told the Judge ‘You tell me’.
A restraining was also put in place to protect both of her victims for 12 months, during which time Savage can not contact either of them or she could face up to five years imprisonment.
“I don’t want to have any contact with him,” said Savage as she started to sob in the dock.
“He’s contacting me. It’s not fair.”
