A HIGH school in Warrington held its annual Remembrance service this morning, Monday.
Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School’s Remembrance Day service was led by the school’s chaplain, Mike Wildsmith.
The service, which was attended by some of the schools’ former pupils, also included performances from current students.
One such performer was Alex Jones, a year 10 student who sang Not About Angels by Birdy in the school’s poppy dress, which is made from more than 900 individual poppies.
Current pupils who are part of the cadets wore their uniforms, and the stage was decorated with poppies with words of thanks written by every student in the school.
“Today, as the Boteler Family, we experienced the profound power of remembrance, said head teacher, Beverly Scott-Henderson.

“It is vital that our young people experience reflection within a service and understand the impact that war and conflicts have on society.
“As we shared stories and acknowledged sacrifices, we instil the importance of understanding the past.
“The level of respect shown in the service and around school really does demonstrate our Christian values of hope, compassion and endurance. To be able to come together and to remember and reflect is very powerful.”
