A HEAVY goods vehicle (HGV) driver has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis following an incident on the A55 in Gwynedd last night, Sunday.
At approximately 9.15pm, an officer noticed a HGV parked in a layby near Abergwyngregyn, so stopped to check that all was ok.
Upon speaking to the driver, the officer smelt alcohol in the cab, so requested a breath test.
The driver provided a reading of 140 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath (the legal limit is 35 micrograms), so he was arrested and taken to custody.
The 39-year-old, from Warrington, failed to provide a sample for analysis while in custody and was subsequently charged.
He will appear at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on December 4.
