DOHERTY’s Irish Bar opened in the town centre in March, promising to become the best live music venue in Warrington.
Here, in our latest Business of the Week feature, Robert tells us why he wanted to open the bar and how the first six months in business have gone.

We opened the business on March 1 this year.

Are you local to the area? Did you grow up here?
Yes, I grew up in Penketh but my family originate from Carn Donagh, Donegal.
Tell me a bit about your business:
I’ve always wanted to open my own Irish Bar, with family coming from Ireland I wanted to create a venue that showcased live music every weekend.

What do you do? What services do you provide?
We offer live sports on all our screens, live music every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Why did you decide to open your own business?
I’ve always wanted to open an Irish Bar and when the opportunity became available, I jumped at the chance.
What’s your business background?
I don’t really have loads of experience running my own business. This is my venture and I’m thrilled with how it’s going.
Why this type of business?
I’ve spent enough time in bars and thought it was my time to give it a go.
What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?
Doherty’s is the only Irish Bar in Warrington and we pride ourselves on being the best live music venue in the town, serving up fantastic Guinness.
Why do loyal customers return to your business?
We offer a safe venue for people to enjoy a great pint and great craic, with a real family feel between the staff.
