A NEW premises licence for a site in Burtonwood has been granted.

At its recent meeting, the licensing sub-committee met to consider the application, and objections.

The site is located at 54 Chapel Lane.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesman said: “We have received an application for a convenience store which supplies alcohol on 54 Chapel Lane in Burtonwood.

“The licencing sub-committee met to consider the application and objections on Wednesday 23 October.

“The application was granted with the conditions set out in the committee documents, with the closing time reduced to 10pm.”

According to a report to the committee, on August 30 an application was received ‘for the grant of a premises licence which was forwarded to the responsible authorities for their consideration’.

It added: “Members are reminded that when considering the imposition of conditions the general principles are that a condition should be necessary, relevant to licensing, relevant to the application in question, enforceable, and precise and in all other respects reasonable and also applicable.

“Conditions must therefore be proportionate and relate to matters within the applicant’s control and not duplicate other controls.

“Members are asked to take into consideration relevant case law and the need for responsible authorities to provide evidence to enable the licensing authority to justify its decision when determining licensing applications.”
