A BUILDING site worker has been sentenced by the courts after causing a colleague to suffer a broken jaw.
The injury spanned form an altercation at a construction site in south Warrington earlier this year.
Matthew Pierpoint was later charged with inflicted grievous bodily harm on the victim without intent.
He admitted the charge before the magistrates’ court at a previous hearing, with the case committed for sentence at Chester Crown Court.
Peter Hussey, prosecuting, explained how the altercation occurred on Wednesday, April 3, this year at around midday.
The pair became involved in a disagreement at a building site in Hatton Road in Hatton, with the 25-year-old victim suffering a fractured jaw.
Judge Michael Leeming told the 31-year-old defendant that the offence had crossed the custody threshold.
However, he felt able to pass a term that does not have to be served immediately, with a community element.
Pierpoint, of Lockhaugh Road in Rowlands Gill, near Newcastle, was sentenced to four months in prison, but this was suspended for 18 months.
He must also complete 200 hours of unpaid work and pay compensation of £1,500, as well as a victim surcharge of £154.
