A family-owned Warrington business has launched a new tool to help people cash in on their unwanted jewellery.
Cheshire Gold Xchange, based in Stockton Heath, has created a gold price calculator that allows owners of gold items to see how much money they could make in real-time.
Directly linked to the gold spot price, the tool gives an accurate quote, allowing owners to sell their gold online or in the store.
The launch comes as gold prices continue to break record highs in 2024.
This surge is driven by global economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and rising demand for physical gold as a stable investment.
Currency fluctuations, particularly a weaker U.S. dollar, have also made gold more attractive for international buyers, contributing to higher prices.
John Gregson, the owner of Cheshire Gold Xchange, said: "Our new gold price calculator is one of a series of new tools and services we’ve launched to make life easier for our customers.
"We wanted to add even more transparency to the process along with convenience so, anyone with gold to sell, whether that’s coins or jewellery or something else, can see instantly what we’ll pay before they leave home.
"With everyone’s finances stretched right now, we think this tool will be incredibly popular with our customers."
The calculator can be accessed from the Cheshire Gold Xchange website, where users can input details about their unwanted gold, such as its purity and weight, to find out its worth instantly.
In addition to the new calculator, the London Road business has also invested in a state-of-the-art XRF scanner.
This scanner uses x-ray technology to determine the exact gold purity content for items that are not hallmarked.
Mr Gregson said: "Our new scanner is another addition to our high-street service and is another way to ensure that our customers get an accurate price when selling their unwanted gold items.
"The x-ray provides a definitive quality rating for total peace of mind."
Founded in 2010, Cheshire Gold Xchange is open six days a week and offers the 'highest prices outside of Birmingham’s jewellery district'.
For those who prefer not to visit the store, there is a prepaid, insured post-in service for customers to send their gold to Cheshire Gold Xchange for sale.
More information and the new price calculator can be found on their website.
