A BEAUTIFUL garden of poppies has been created by a group of Scouts ahead of Remembrance Day.

The ninth Warrington East Scout Group, based in Gorse Covert, is made up of children aged four to 14.

They have spent several weeks creating beautiful poppies to display ahead of Remembrance Day to commemorate fallen soldiers.

“We have been doing lamppost poppies for a few years now as a way of providing the community with something nice, whilst honouring our fallen service personal,” said Charlotte Chalmers-Norris, one of the group’s volunteers.

“We came up with the idea of creating a remembrance garden for the local community, offering the opportunity to dedicate a poppy to a loved one and if they wished to make a donation that would be great.”

The garden was installed on Saturday on Gorse Covert Road, opposite The Poacher pub.

“The feedback we’ve received already has been amazing, the community have really appreciated the gesture,” said Charlotte.

The Scouts are also passing on any donations they have received for the poppy dedications to the Royal British Legion.
