The Wolfe Tones will play their last ever show in England at a music festival.
The legendary Irish folk band will bring their 60-year-long career to a close with a headline performance on Friday, June 20, at the On the Waterfront festival.
Tickets for this much-anticipated farewell concert will be available from November 8 at 10am, with presale access starting on November 7 at 10am.
The band, which formed in the 1960s, will play for the last time in England at the festival which will take place on Liverpool's Pier Head from June 19 to June 22.
The band members, Brian Warfield, Noel Nagle, and Tommy Byrne, began performing together in the early 1960s.
They quickly gained a following and have since played on prestigious stages including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Paris Olympia.
They have been honoured with the keys to both New York and Los Angeles.
Mr Warfield said: "The city of Liverpool will always hold a special place in the hearts of Irish immigrants into Britain.
"Over the years, it has also held a special place in the hearts of The Wolfe Tones.
"The memories of the great occasions in the city including at the Liverpool Irish Centre will live long in the memory.
"It is only fitting that The Wolfe Tones headline a major outdoor event as part of our final farewell performances and we promise that it is going to be a special occasion in a very special city."
The band will be joined by other acts which have not yet been announced.
This year, The Wolfe Tones headlined Finsbury Park and the record-breaking Electric Picnic in Ireland, where they drew the largest crowd in the festival’s history.
Their recent stadium shows in Ireland sold out 27,000 tickets in under an hour.
Their songs such as Celtic Symphony and Let the People Sing have become anthems, resonating with generations and solidifying their place as the world’s most celebrated Irish folk group.
Fans are encouraged to sign up now for presale access to secure their chance to witness this 'final farewell'.
This latest announcement joins previously revealed headliners Sting, and Cream Classical and the Kaleidoscope Orchestra.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Liverpool’s waterfront, framed by the Three Graces and the River Mersey, On the Waterfront 2025 promises to be an unforgettable weekend of live music.
