A FEMALE police officer was assaulted while an arrest was being conducted in Warrington last night, Saturday.

SC Hart has been left with a fractured nose and swollen black eye following the incident.

She was elbowed in the face while arresting a man who officers say was attempting to get away.

A Facebook post by Warrington Police reads: “A male in his 30s decided he thought it was an acceptable idea to elbow her in the face whilst trying to get away, fracturing her nose and giving her a swollen black eye.

“He was swiftly arrested, taken to custody and will be interviewed for any offences including the assault.

“SC Hart volunteers as a police officer in her spare time to keep people safe, she has for nearly three years, assaulting an officer whilst they are trying to do their duty is simply unacceptable.”

SC Hart’s colleagues at Cheshire Police have wished her a quick and speedy recovery.
