A BOWLING alley in Warrington town centre has been bought by a family entertainment operator.
Superbowl, located in Golden Square Shopping Centre, opened in 2019 following a £1.9million investment.
The leisure venue includes a 12-lane bowling alley, Crazy Club soft play centre, Putters Adventure Golf, Sega Prize Zone arcade, a diner and a bar.
It has now been confirmed that Nottingham-based family entertainment operator Disco Bowl has acquired Superbowl Warrington from previous operator QLP.
The acquisition by owners Pete Terry and Nigel Blair, who also own six other UK locations is for an undisclosed sum which also includes Superbowl venues in Cardiff and Newport.
Expressing enthusiasm about the acquisition, Pete said: “These centres are strategically located and align perfectly with our expansion goals at Disco Bowl.
“We have long admired QLP's rapid growth in recent years, and these venues are leaders in their local markets.
“This deal benefits both parties – QLP can concentrate on a more focused portfolio, while we strengthen our presence across the UK.”
In the near term, Warrington and the two Welsh bowling alleys will continue to operate under the Superbowl UK brand.
But Disco Bowl plans to rebrand them using the company's newly unveiled logo, already featured at its Nottingham and Nuneaton sites.
The company aims to ‘enhance the offerings’ at these centres and build on the success they have experienced since opening.
Terry added: “While it is too early to outline specific renovation plans, we have had tremendous success with our Scrapyard Golf and Karaoke Box concepts.
“As our name suggests, we emphasize creating a dynamic entertainment experience.
“These centres can expect DJ-led events and an upgraded light and sound system, reflecting our signature style across our existing locations.
“Exciting times are ahead, and we are eager to take these venues to the next level.”
