An award-winning home care service in Warrington has appointed a new area manager.

Belong at Home, which is part of the not-for-profit operator Belong, has promoted Nicola Hewitt from her previous role as team leader to the new position.

This promotion comes as the service continues to expand its support for more individuals in their own homes across the town.

As part of her new role, Ms Hewitt will head up the team of community support workers, who assist tenants of Belong’s independent living apartments in Warrington care village, as well as individuals living in the broader community.

The Warrington service is ranked in the top 20 home care providers in the North West, based on independent reviews on homecare.co.uk, achieving a perfect 10 out of 10 review score.

Ms Hewitt brings over eight years of experience as a community support worker to her new position.

She began her career after caring for her terminally ill grandmother, who inspired her to pursue a role in care.

She joined Belong at Home six years ago and progressed to become a team leader before achieving her NVQ Level 5 in health and social care, which enabled her to take on her current role.

Speaking about her promotion, she said: "I’m delighted to continue my journey with an organisation that puts the needs of the customer, rather than those of the business, first.

"I’m looking forward to supporting a great team to offer this to more people in the local area as the service grows."

Belong at Home operates in areas local to Belong’s eight dementia care villages across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Staffordshire.

They offer a range of services, including one-to-one personal care, housekeeping, running errands, and companionship to help people live as independently as possible.

Customers of the not-for-profit home care agency can also benefit from use of the village’s amenities, including a bistro, hair salon, gym, and therapy suite.

There is also an opportunity to participate in a varied experiences programme, giving the chance to build new friendships.

Along with their relatives, they also benefit from free access to Belong’s Admiral Nurse service, which provides mental health nurses specialising in dementia care, in association with Dementia UK, to help support people who have been diagnosed with dementia.

Earlier this year, Ms Hewitt was shortlisted for the Fabulous Frontline Leader Award at the Stars of Social Care Awards.
