A dance academy is offering free workshops for high school students.

The WVR Dance Academy at the college's Warrington campus will run from 5pm to 6pm on three Thursdays.

Year 10 and 11 pupils can participate in these fun and inclusive workshops, regardless of their experience or ability.

Starting on November 21 and ending on December 5, this series of workshops aims to challenge and inspire students.

The students will be given exclusive tutoring by Shannen Stocks, an award-winning dance tutor at the college.

Shannen Stocks was recently crowned the World Dance Council's (WDC) Vice Champion and the International Dance Teachers' Association's Medallist of the Year.

With several medals under her belt, she embodies the college's commitment to providing students with industry expert tutors.

Following last year's successful WVR Dance Academy, she is again leading this exciting opportunity for young dancers.

Ms Stocks said: "The WVR Dance Academy is not to be missed.

"I encourage anyone in Year 10 or 11 with an interest in dance to come along and enjoy these workshops.

"At the very least, you will learn tonnes of new skills, make friends, and have fun, but you might also discover your perfect next step towards a career in performing arts."

Under her expert guidance, participants will explore several dance techniques and styles.

They will cover contemporary, strength and conditioning, and improvisation, while working on a renowned dance piece inspired by acclaimed choreographers Akram Khan and Hofesh Shechter.

The workshops take place in the college's multimillion-pound Advanced Creative & Digital Skills Academy (ACDS), set within a 'state-of-the-art' theatre and dance studio.

The facilities are equipped with sprung floors, advanced lighting and sound systems, and floor-to-ceiling mirrors.

The academy aims to give students an insight into the college's vibrant dance courses for school leavers, and help them develop their confidence.

Places at the academy are free of charge and filling up quickly.
