A NEW C-section scar support project has been launched across Warrington aimed at helping new mums in the first 1,000 days after giving birth.
Claire Gregory and Robyn Ablott at Baby Bump Fitness CIC, a non-profit organisation, have dedicated themselves to supporting mums and families, bringing health services to mums in Warrington.
With C-section rates on the rise and nearly 30 per cent of all births in the north west delivered by caesarean, the new project, which is funded by the Cheshire Community Foundation, will provide post-surgery scar care for mums.
Claire and Robyn have developed a free downloadable resource that guides women through C-section scar therapy at home.
They will also be holding regular free scar therapy workshops across Warrington, offering hands-on training for women about how to identify their scar type, perform scar therapy and other help and advice.
Claire, who together with Robyn is an advanced scar therapist, said: “Many women receive limited guidance about managing their scars, leaving them unaware of simple steps like scar massage, that can improve mobility, ease discomfort and help reduce scar tightness, pulling and overhang.
“Every workshop attendee will receive free scar therapy accessories to use at home.
“This is suitable for those booked in for sections, those who have recently had sections and even those who have had sections many years ago - it is not too late for scar therapy.
“Our C-Section Scar Support Project is a collaborative effort, and we’re grateful to work alongside partners like Sigma Woman, The Active Pregnancy Foundation, and Scarban.”
