WORK is set to be carried out on a road that repeatedly floods in Orford.
Whenever heavy rain hits the town, pools of water can be spotted on Orford Lane outside of Heron Foods.
The last time it was waterlogged was just two weeks ago, with people having to walk in the road to avoid the pavement.
Orford councillor Dave Appleton has now provided an update on the issue.
He has revealed that a gully crew has attended the site and that they discovered from jetting the gully, there appears to be an issue on the outlet.
As a result, further work is now required to dig down and investigate the issue, and to install a new gully plot.
Cllr Appleton has been told that this work will be prioritised along with other drainage works.
The timescale for this is currently between five and six weeks. As of yet, a start date has not been confirmed.
People have responded to Cllr Appleton’s update, saying the flooding issue is something that has been reported ‘a number of times’.
One person said: “That area has been a problem for months if not years.
“I feel sorry for Heron Foods because any proper fix will require closing the entire car park.”
Another said: “I just walked by there with my dog and had to dodge the water gathering.
“It sounds like the work is necessary, and I appreciate the priority you’re giving it. Well done.”
