A FURTHER application to improve an award-winning farm shop’s car park has been refused permission by Warrington Borough Council.

Kenyon Hall, on Winwick Lane, submitted a planning application in September in a bid to improve its car park.

The farm shop is also well-known in Warrington and afar for its popular pumpkin patch, which returns each autumn.

The application came shortly after the award-winning farm shop was refused permission to use its seasonal car park all year round due to green belt concerns.

Consent was previously granted for a seasonal car park to be used at the site in Croft between June to October.

The latest application outlined the farm shop’s hopes to change the gravel to permeable block paving to help improve the car park.

It also proposed re-enforcing the grass using permeable gravel grids and incorporating a sustainable drainage solution.

“The proposed solution will preserve the rural aesthetic at the heart of the design decisions for those improvements through the use of a sympathetic colour scheme,” the application read.

“The selection of colours of paving blocks available will allow them to be laid in patterns, helping to define specific parking bays, which will assist vehicles in safely navigating and using the car park.”

However, this plan has since been refused by Warrington Borough Council, which cited concerns about the appearance of the materials.

“The change in material would have a significantly different appearance and as such impact on the visual amenity of the area compared to those approved,” the refusal statement read.
