A WARRINGTON hotel is hoping to add a large extension to increase the number of bedrooms available.
The Village Hotel, located on Centre Park near the town centre, has drawn up plans and submitted them to Warrington Borough Council.
Permission is sought by applicant Village Trading Number One Ltd for the erection of a 66-bedroom extension, along with associated works.
Plans state: “The proposed extension at the Warrington site aims to support growing demand from both business and leisure guests, while enhancing the overall offering of the hotel and its integration into the local economy.”
The proposed extension would be built on the south side of the hotel, occupying a portion of the existing parking area.
Due to existing landscape buffers, it is said that the work would have ‘minimal visual or environmental impact on neighbouring properties and the wider Centre Park area’.
A notable previous planning application referenced was granted in September 1998 for a two-storey extension to provide 30 bedrooms, along with a single-storey extension to the rear for laundry facilities.
More recently, permission was approved in May for an electric vehicle charging hub to the front of the hotel.
“The development of the EV charging hub signifies the hotel's commitment to sustainability and the provision of modern amenities for guests,” plans add.
“This approval will sit alongside this current application once approved and will enhance the site sustainability credentials.
“The integration of both projects demonstrates a proactive approach to evolving hospitality standards and the importance of environmental considerations in the Village Hotel business operations.”
Concluding, the applicant said: “The proposed 66-bedroom extension to The Village Hotel has been designed with careful consideration to complement the existing building.
“Landscaping proposals have been thoughtfully planned to integrate the extension into its surroundings, retaining important green elements, landscape buffers and promoting biodiversity.
“By increasing tourism and creating additional employment opportunities, both during construction and post-completion, the development will provide significant economic benefits to the area.”
